If you rely on Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you know how important it is to plan around your monthly deposit. But the exact payment date can sometimes be confusing—especially when holidays or weekends are involved.
In this post, we’ll explain:
The standard SSI deposit schedule
What happens when the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday
How early you may receive your deposit
Where to check your deposit status
How Purple helps you get paid faster¹
1. The Standard SSI Payment Schedule
The Social Security Administration (SSA) sends SSI payments on the 1st of each month.
Example: If it’s November, your SSI is scheduled for November 1st
This applies whether you’re receiving benefits for yourself or someone you support as a representative payee.
2. What If the 1st Falls on a Weekend or Holiday?
If the 1st is a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, your payment is issued on the last business day before.
Examples:
If the 1st is a Sunday, your deposit may arrive Friday, the 30th
If the 1st is a federal holiday, SSA moves the deposit one business day earlier
So it’s common to see SSI hit at the end of the prior month.
3. Can I Get My SSI Payment Early?
Yes — but only if your bank or account provider supports early deposit.
At Purple, we make your funds available as soon as we receive the payment file from SSA. That means:
Up to 4 days early for SSI
Real-time notifications when your deposit is ready
No need to wait until the 1st
4. Where Can I Check My Payment Status?
To track or confirm your upcoming SSI deposit:
Visit your my Social Security account
Call SSA at 1-800-772-1213
Check your bank or debit card provider for pending deposits
Purple users receive instant alerts when their funds are available — no guesswork needed.
