How to Get a Social Security Card Replacement

1. When You Need a Replacement

Common reasons:

2. How to Apply Online

Use my Social Security:

  1. Go to ssa.gov/myaccount
  2. Sign in or create account
  3. Select "Replacement Documents"
  4. Choose "Social Security Card"
  5. Complete application
  6. Card mailed to you

  • U.S. citizen age 18+
  • Have a my Social Security account
  • Have a U.S. mailing address
